U9 Playing Info 2026 Season
U9 Division and 2026 Season Info (2018/2019) under 9 years old - ages 7 & 8

2026 Season Information:
- U9 is Co-Ed
- U9 lacrosse will be played as per the Lacrosse Canada Rule Book - Option L
- U9 Lacrosse will be played in accordance with the World Lacrosse Rulebook and the LC Age and Stage Modifications
- U9 teams will consist of 8 to 16 players per team (dependent on registrations)
- U9 will have developmentally appropriate evaluations to ensure parity teams are made.
- Evaluations will consist of skills and parity games.
- Evaluations start in March.
- U9 Season Play will begin April 11-12, 2026 at the Southside Soccer Centre.
- For the remainder of 2026 Box Lacrosse playing season, U9 will have 1 game per week. Weekday games will be scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday, with a start time of 6:00pm or 7:00pm.
- There will be weekend play with Westlock.
- U9 will have one practice per week for 1 hour.
- U9 will have a wrap up GELC Jamboree style tournament on June 13/14, 2026 at the Southside Soccer Centre.

*In U9 each game or period will be played as run-time. Run time is defined as straight play except for time outs or goalie water breaks.
- U9 will follow the LTAD Option L with the following modifications:
- Fallback
- Shift on the fly
- Regulation ball used
- No coaches on the floor
- U9 level lacrosse is full floor, 5 on 5 lacrosse, with goalies.
- Players will rotate as goalie (so everyone gets a chance to try)
- Referees are present for the game portion of the time slot to start and stop play. Play will be stopped for infractions.
- 5 min warm-up, 3 x 12 min periods, 2 min breaks between periods, last 5 minutes of 3rd period stop time. NO SHOT CLOCK at U9
- Game sheets must be filled out for U9 games
- Contact: On Ball - Checking; Off-Ball - Arms extended Shadowing (pushing to direct, contain) *No Off-Ball Forceful Cross Checks

Player Equipment
Lacrosse sticks at U9 shall not measure more than 101.6 cm (40"), nor less than 66.04 cm (26") in overall length.
